Sacramento City Approves New Use Of Force Policy

The policy goes beyond state law by stating that deadly force should only be used as a last resort. The recommendation came from the Sacramento Community Police Review Commission.

- New tonight, Sacramento city leaders adopting a new policy on police use of force, the city council voting 8 to 1 in support of a policy that police use deadly force only as a last resort.

The vote comes after a recommendation by the Sacramento Community Police Review Commission. Mayor Steinberg says the policy better clarifies the city's position on what standard use of force should be.
