Sacramento could hit 100 degrees this week. Here’s when — and what’s expected next

Get ready, Sacramento. Temperatures could hit the triple digits this week.

According to the National Weather Service, “significant heat” is in the forecast for the Sacramento Valley this week, with chances of temperatures exceeding 100 degrees in some areas.

“The significant heat notice is highlighting the probability of temperatures hitting that triple-digit mark on Wednesday,” Chelsea Peters with the National Weather Service said. “That will be the hottest day this week.”

This will result in “well-above normal temperatures” for mid-May, which is usually between 80 and 85 degrees, the weather service said on X, formerly called Twitter.

What’s in the weather forecast for Sacramento?

According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies and high temperatures are in the forecast for Sacramento.

On Tuesday, skies will be sunny, with a high near 90 degrees and a low around 58. Light winds are expected to sweep at around 5 to 10 mph.

Winds will continue through Wednesday, continuing at a pace of about 5 to 7 mph.

There is a 22% chance Sacramento will hit triple-digit temperatures on Wednesday, Peters said.

Temperatures will see a high near 90 degrees and a low around 57 on Thursday.

On Friday, skies will be clear and sunny. High temperatures will be below 90 degrees.

Will these high temperatures continue into next week?

Sacramento could see cooler temperatures next week, Peters said.

“Details are not yet clear, but the trend is showing Wednesday is our only day in the triple-digits for the next two weeks,” she said.
