Sacramento County Fair returns to Cal Expo this week. Here’s what a $10 ticket gets you
The Sacramento County Fair returns this week, bringing food, friendly competitions and activities to Cal Expo.
The fair, which started in 1937, will run over the Memorial Day weekend from Thursday to Monday. According to Cal Expo’s website, the fair focuses on teaching young people and the community about agriculture, business and technology.
This is ahead of the California State Fair, which will also take place in Cal Expo, in July.
When and where is the county fair?
The county fair will be at 1600 Exposition Blvd.
It’s open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday to Sunday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. The carnival will be open 11 a.m. each day.
Enter at Gate D (Exposition Blvd and Challenge Way).
Tickets
You can get presale tickets now until Wednesday.
General admission presale prices are $10 for adults, $8 for kids 12 to 17 years old and free for kids under 12. This gets you into the fair for one day.
Prices will increase by $2 at the gate.
With a valid military ID, you can attend for free on Memorial Day.
There is an additional option to buy an “all you can ride” pass for carnival attractions. It’s $30 to $35, depending on when you buy, on top of the fair admission.
Parking is $10.
What’s at the county fair?
The fair features carnival rides, activities, a livestock show and auction.
There’s a free concert every day. The acts include:
Thursday: Fan Halen
Friday: Banded Future
Saturday: The Fabulous Yachtsmen
Sunday: Maya Latin Roots Band
Monday: Navy Band Northwest
There will also be events, such as a monster truck showdown, a truck pull, rodeo and destruction derby. Tickets for these events are sold separately.
