Sacramento federal Judge Troy L. Nunley to be honored as judge of the year

U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley will be honored in May as judge of the year by the Sacramento County Bar Association.

Nunley, who was appointed as a federal district judge in 2013 by then-President Barack Obama, will be honored at a reception May 23 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 1209 L St.

Nunley, a former prosecutor for the Alameda County and Sacramento County district attorney’s offices and a former deputy attorney general, also served as a Sacramento Superior Court judge from 2002 until his appointment to the federal bench.
