Sacramento hosts 2024 Nowruz Spring Festival, Persian new year

(FOX40.COM) — California State University Sacramento is scheduled to host the 2024 Nowruz Spring Festival on Saturday, March 9, from 1 to 8 p.m.

The festival is a celebration of the Iranian or Persian new year. It’s an event that promises to bring together the greater Sacramento’s Iranian and Afghan communities in a celebration of diversity, unity, and the spirit of renewal, according to the Iranian American Cultural and Educational Center.

“Nowruz – the beginning of Spring, holds significant cultural and symbolic importance for Iranians and Afghans worldwide,” festival organizers said. “It marks the onset of spring, signifying new beginnings, rejuvenation, and the triumph of light over darkness.”

The 2024 Nowruz Festival promises a vibrant tapestry of cultural performances, traditional music, dance, art exhibitions, and delectable cuisines, all showcasing the heritage of Iran and Afghanistan.
