If you’re looking to view and experience Christopher Nolan’s newest film “Oppenheimer” the way the filmmaker intended, there are only 30 theaters in the world where it’s possible.

Seven of those theaters are in California — and one is in downtown Sacramento.

Oppenheimer is being presented in its 70-millimeter format at select theater locations, according to an IMAX news release.

“IMAX film brings images to life,” Nolan was quoted in the release. “From resolution and color to sharpness and overall quality, there is nothing compared to using IMAX film cameras. The IMAX film format is the Gold Standard of motion picture photography.”

Which IMAX theaters show ‘Oppenheimer’ in 70MM format?

In the IMAX theatres featuring the 70-millimeter film, the scenes will expand images vertically to fill the entire screen, according to IMAX. Only seven theaters in California have this feature available.

Here are the theaters featuring the Oppenheimer 70-millimeter showing:

These presentations of Oppenheimer will also be in 70-millimeter and will not feature trailers, according to the IMAX website.
