“Widely known as a voracious reader, you’ll find the Sacramento Kings forward with a book in hand before each game,” the library said.

Lyles chose “The Creative Act: A Way of Life” by Rick Rubin for the first meeting, which is to be held on Feb. 23.

According to the library, the book was chosen “to learn more about yourself through unleashing creativity in all aspects of life, not just basketball.”

“Beyond the court, Trey is a passionate reader, often immersing himself in books during road trips and travel between games,” the library said. “As Sacramento has become his new home, he is thrilled to collaborate with the Sacramento Public Library to start his own book club and engage with the community. Through this initiative, he aims to create a space where fans and fellow book enthusiasts can connect and foster meaningful conversations around some of his favorite books.”

The book club will be live-streamed online and Sacramento Library card holders can register to be one of twenty people randomly selected to attend the book club in person with Lyles.

The book is available to check out from the library in hardcover, ebook and audiobook formats.
