Sacramento mayor: Ordinance requiring people to stand during national anthem should be repealed

Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg is calling on city leaders to repeal a 92-year-old city ordinance that requires people to stand during the national anthem. The proposed repeal will be placed in front of the city council and would take a simple majority to pass, Steinberg said in a statement. City leaders said they were unaware that the ordinance existed until a Nevada man filed a lawsuit on July 1 to challenge the ordinance.
