Sacramento R&B festival set to draw thousands to Discovery Park rescheduled after storms

A two-day R&B festival with an impressive lineup set to draw tens of thousands of music fans this month to Sacramento’s Discovery Park has been rescheduled.

In the interest of public safety, County of Sacramento officials informed Sol Blume organizers they wouldn’t be able to host the festival as scheduled, following numerous severe rainstorms that soaked Sacramento and the Golden State.

Originally scheduled for April 29-30, the festival, one of the country’s largest R&B music concerts, has been rescheduled to Aug. 19-20, according to a news release.

During the rainy season, it’s not unusual for Discovery Park to go underwater because it’s a part of the Sacramento area flood control system. But with Sacramento’s extreme wet winter and spring featuring numerous atmospheric rivers, flooding has been particularly severe this year.

Festival tickets purchased for the April event are still valid and will be automatically transferred to the new dates in August, according to organizers.

The event retained headliners Brent Faiyaz and Kehlani, most of the original artist lineup and added new acts. Ticket buyers can still expect artists such as LaRussell, Ella Mai, Jessie Reyez, Isaiah Rashad, Joey Bada$$, Chloe, and more.

Tickets are still available. For ticket-buyers who cannot make the new dates this summer, organizers have created an online FAQ page to help provide ways to receive a refund, sell your ticket, or secure your ticket for Sol Blume in 2024.

In 2022, the concert’s first year at the park, more than 40,000 people went to Discovery Park to vibe on the lawn and see their favorite artists perform their latest, greatest music.

The event debuted in 2018 at Cesar Chavez Park in downtown Sacramento.
