Dirt will fly when the 23rd Annual San Bernardino County Sheriff’s P.R.C.A. Rodeo kicks off next month at Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore.

During the three-day event, some of the world’s top professional cowboys and cowgirls will saddle bronc, bull ride, steer wrestle, barrel race, team rope, perform bareback and do a little tie-down roping.

Also performing will be Professional Rodeo Clown JJ Harrison, a master showman who has protected riders and entertained rodeo fans since 2005.

The rodeo starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Sept. 24, then at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. Gates to the rodeo open four hours before showtime. Ticket holders are invited to come early, visit food vendors, grab a seat and relax before the show.

The rodeo on Sept. 23 is dedicated to raising awareness of domestic violence. Proceeds from the evening will be donated to the “Man Up Crusade” with a donation to a local domestic violence shelter. Visitors are encouraged to wear purple to “Take a Stand and Break the Cycle of Domestic Violence.”

With the theme “Are You Tough Enough to Wear Pink?” the Sept. 24 rodeo will support Breast Cancer Awareness.  The rodeo will make a donation to Loma Linda University Medical Center for breast cancer awareness.

A dance follows Friday and Saturday night’s rodeos under the big tent featuring the band Jarett James & The County Line.

On Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a P.R.C.A. Youth Rodeo Camp for children over the age of 8 will be held at the rodeo grounds.

The Sept. 25 rodeo performance is dedicated to military and public safety personnel.  A joint honor guard team composed of members from the county sheriff's department and members of the Mounted Color Guard U.S. Marine Corps out of Barstow will post the colors, followed by a moment of silence before the start of the event.

The rodeo will donate to the Cannonball Memorial Run in support of its mission to provide immediate financial support to the survivors of officers killed in the line of duty nationwide.

Rodeo tickets are $25 on Sept. 23, $30 on Sept. 24, and $20 on Sept. 25. Tickets for children 4 to 6 are $5 and free on the final day. Children 3 years old and under are free. Parking is $10.

The rodeo grounds are at 2555 Glen Helen Parkway near the Interstate 15/215 interchange.

Proceeds from the event will support the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Children’s Fund, the 4H Club of San Bernardino, the Yucaipa Equestrian Center, the California State Horsemen’s Association, LLUMC, Man Up Crusade and several service clubs.
