Are Safeway, Fred Meyer and other retailers open on Easter in Tacoma? Here are answers

Whether you are making a meal yourself or bringing food to a grandparent’s home on Easter Sunday, the hustle and bustle of the week can make you forget that one key ingredient or necessary side. And that means a quick trip to a grocery store.

However, not all grocery stores will have regular hours on Easter Sunday. Here’s what grocers are open or closed in Tacoma and the rest of Pierce County this coming weekend.

Safeway

Safeway locations in Tacoma and Pierce County will operate at regular hours on Sunday. However, some departments like the deli and pharmacy may close early, according to a store associate. Depending on the location you visit, Safeway stores in Tacoma typically open at 5 or 6 a.m. and close at either 11 p.m., midnight or 1 a.m.

Fred Meyer

All Fred Meyer locations in Pierce County will have regular hours on Easter, a store associate in Tacoma told The News Tribune. But the pharmacy will be closed. You can check hours at your local Fred Meyer at https://www.fredmeyer.com/stores/grocery/wa.

Costco

All Costco locations will be closed on Easter, according to its list of holiday closure days on the company’s website.

WinCo

WinCo will operate on its regular schedule throughout the Easter weekend, a store associate told The News Tribune. The two Winco locations in Tacoma are open 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.

Target

A store associate at Tacoma’s Target confirmed that all Target locations will be closed Easter Sunday.

Walmart

Walmart stores have historically remained open on Easter Sunday and should do so again this year. However, regular hours can vary between stores, so you should check your Walmart’s hours before shopping.
