Sagamore and Falmouth branches of Christmas Tree Shops are closing. Here's what we know.

The thatched-roof Christmas Tree Shops retail store at the foot of the Sagamore Bridge in Bourne, passed each day by more than 62,000 drivers, according to county records, will close in June, after the company that owns the store filed for bankruptcy protection.

The Cape Cod-grown home decoration retailer filed for bankruptcy protection on Friday, announcing the closure of 10 stores among 82 locations across the country by June 30.

The stores in Sagamore and Falmouth are among the planned closures, according to a court document, released on Monday. They are two of the Cape's five Christmas Tree Shops locations.

Hyannis, West Dennis and Orleans are the remaining branches on Cape Cod.

Charles and Doreen Bilezikian are the former owners of the franchise and the Bilezikian family still owns the property under the branches in Falmouth, Sagamore and Orleans.

Greg Bilezikian, son of Charles and Doreen Bilezikian, is uncertain about future plans regarding the properties and intends to take it on a "case-by-case basis and see what happens."

No 'other' layoffs planned 'at this time,' according to Christmas Tree Shops statement.

In an earlier statement, released on Friday, the company disclosed that many employees in stores being closed will be offered jobs at nearby locations, also stating that 'no other layoffs are being contemplated at this time.'

“We have many great friends that still work in the stores and hopefully they'll have their jobs; they're good people and I wish everybody the best,” Greg Bilezikian said to the Times on Monday.

Where are the two Cape Cod stores that are closing located?

The Sagamore branch, located at Cranberry Highway off of Route 6A, features a big windmill near the entrance and is considered to be an iconic location right by the Sagamore bridge.

The Falmouth store is located on Davis Straits off Route 28 in Falmouth Plaza.

Other stores on the list to be closed are in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Michigan, Georgia and Florida.

Christmas Tree Shops, along with its parent company Handil Holdings LLC, filed for a Chapter 11 petition on Friday, claiming in a statement that it is “strictly financial restructuring.” Handil Holdings LLC is based in Middleboro.
