A Salem man running a massage therapy service was arraigned Wednesday on five counts of sex abuse during a massage.

A Marion County grand jury indicted Ricardo Perez Figueroa, 60, on four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration. A probable cause statement from the Salem Police Department said the woman told investigators that Perez Figueroa restrained her while he assaulted her on Sept. 9.

Marion County Circuit Court Judge Natasha Zimmerman set Perez Figueroa's bail at $100,000. Perez Figueroa has been held in the Marion County jail since Salem officers arrested him on Nov. 30 at his business, Massage Perez, in the northeast Salem market, La Pulga de Salem.

A probable cause statement said Ricardo Perez Figueroa sexually abused a woman during a massage at his business located inside La Pulga de Salem.

Perez Figueroa started Massage Perez in February and is the sole owner, according to Oregon Secretary of State records. The business license is up to date and active.

The Oregon State Board of Massage Therapists (OBMT) told the Statesman Journal there is no record of Perez Figueroa having a professional license as a massage therapist and that the agency also is conducting an investigation.

Salem Police spokeswoman Angela Hedrick said an investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the department's tip line 503-588-8477.
