Salesianum standout is Player of the Year, heads All-State boys soccer team

Salesianum senior Jake Ross is the Player of the Year and leads the All-State boys soccer team, selected by the Delaware High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Ross was voted No. 1 on the Top XI team, which recognizes the state’s most elite players, and earned national All-American status.

The next five players – Appoquinimink senior T.J. Hastings, Caravel senior Miles Hood, Indian River senior Jordan Illian, Caesar Rodney senior Thaddeus Glasser and Charter of Wilmington senior Matthew Capretto – received regional All-American honors.

The other players on the Top XI team are Delcastle junior Cristofer Torres-Romero, Middletown senior Jaden Howard, Tower Hill senior Thomas Vanni, Caravel senior Zain Akhtar and Saint Mark’s senior Jon Lennon.

Delcastle’s Todd Lehman was named the overall Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a 15-0 regular season and the Blue Hen Flight A championship.

Lehman was also named large schools coach of the year, while Indian River’s Brandt Mais won the small schools honor and Salesianum’s Scott Mosier won the private/parochial award.

Adam Martin of Smyrna was named the overall Assistant Coach of the Year, and also won the large schools honor. Delmar’s Casey Bellamy earned the small schools award and Saint Mark’s Brittany Quynn won the private/parochial honor.
