Salina-area colleges host December graduations

Over 80 students have reached a new step in their college experience and life after two graduation ceremonies this past Friday in Salina.

Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus and Kansas Wesleyan University both hosted commencement ceremonies Friday evening that saw students from Salina, central Kansas, the rest of the state and around the world walk the stage.

At K-State Salina, the ceremony was hosted at the Student Life Center on the campus, with 38 students graduating with a variety of associate and bachelor degrees.

Eight graduates from K-State Salina call this city their hometown: Mohammed Alanazi, Osama Habeeb, Zachary Mathis, Tyler Weems, Cristina Tabora, Molly Mathis, Troy Losey and Zechariah Rose, while two others are from surrounding counties, Westin Shehi, of Abilene, and Derek Cooper, of Lincoln.

All K-State Salina fall 2021 graduates are:

Kansas Wesleyan University also hosted a commencement ceremony Friday evening at the school's Mabee Arena. Forty-four students graduated from KWU, with six from Salina, Ethan Badders, Cameron Hunter, Maddison Nowlin, Christopher Parker, Justin Sullivan and Stefany Wilson. Other central Kansas-based graduates include Takota Anderson, of Ellsworth and Tyler Kepple, of Halstead.
