Salina Central guard Aubrie Kierscht (35) announced Thursday that she will sign to play basketball next year at Presbyterian College, an NCAA Division I school in Clinton, South Carolina.

Six days after decommitting from Navy, Salina Central senior Aubrie Kierscht has found a new home to play college basketball.

Kierscht announced Thursday night on Twitter that she will attend Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Presbyterian is an NCAA Division I institution that competes in the Big South Conference.

"I just believe when you know, you know," Kierscht said. "I had a Zoom call with them and just knew right away that it was where I wanted to be. They fit everything I wanted in a college, and I felt it was somewhere I could be successful both on and off the court.

Kierscht announced two offers last weekend on Twitter with one being Presbyterian and the other was Newman University, an NCAA Division II institution in Wichita.

"For me, I think the most important was going to a school that I knew believed in me," Kierscht said. "Presbyterian showed they believed in my capabilities as a basketball player, and I feel that they can help develop me to be a better player."

Presbyterian College, coached by Alaura Sharp, finished with a 12-18 record in 2021-2022. Sharp has ties to Kansas, growing up in Fredonia, playing two years at Fort Scott Community College and serving as head coach at Garden City Community College from 2009 to 2013.

"I’m really excited to play for her and all of the staff at PC," Kierscht said. "I think it’s gonna be a fun four years."

Kierscht became Central's all-time leading scorer this past season with 1,685 points. She also has two single-game school records, both set on Jan. 11 against Valley Center, when she scored 40 points and made 12 3-pointers. She owns the record for most points in a season as well with 481.
