Sallie McCaskill Memorial Scholarship winners

The Sallie McCaskill Memorial Scholarship Committee has announced its scholarship winners for 2022-2023. With the eight students selected, the total number of scholarships given to Oak Ridge High School graduating seniors since the fund was established totals 216.

The fund was established in 1993 to honor longtime resident Sallie McCaskill of Oak Ridge who worked hard to secure educational opportunities for children and adults in Oak Ridge, especially the Scarboro Community.

The fund is supported exclusively by donations from individuals, families, churches and corporations. The award is for the first year of college/university enrollment, according to a news release.

This year’s awardees are:

• Chelsea Ayala, the daughter of Gonzalo Hernandez and Luz Cazares. She will attend Pellissippi State Community College.

• Semaj Clark, the daughter of James Clark. She will attend Milligan University.

• Chloe Gadson, thedaughter of Sabrina Canteen. She will attend East Tennessee State University.

• ReAnn Hall, the daughter of Annette Hall. She will attend Pellissippi State Community College.

• JaNashia Henderson, the daughter of Wensday and Malcolm Henderson. She will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

• Darren Osborne Jr., the son of Shayla and Darren Osborne Sr. He will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

• Anisia Ragin, the daughter of Kontessa Copeland and Trent Ragin. She will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

• Takiyah Stewart, the daughter of Kimesha Stewart. She will attend he University of Alabama.
