New salon opens in West Side

Sep. 27—Two women with roots in West Scranton opened a hair and nail salon in the city this month.

Brooke Young, 25, Scranton, started offering nail services at City Edge Studio LLC, 1431 Luzerne St., on Sept. 6, and Stephanie Bingham, 24, Olyphant, who specializes in colors and extensions, started booking hair appointments Sept. 19, Bingham said.

Bingham graduated from the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute in Philadelphia in 2017 and worked at a salon in the city for several years. She also worked at Sanderson Place Salon & Spa in Scranton.

Young, who specializes in nail services, has seven years of experience and received training through the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County. She has worked at Alexander's Salon & Spa and Synergy Salon & Spa.

"We wanted to bring a new business into West Side," Bingham said. "I grew up on Decker Court and Brooke grew up on Academy Street. It was close to our heart to go back home."
