Jun. 2—LUMBERTON — The salon at Robeson Community College is to reopen Wednesday.

The salon will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays of each week from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the college will have a soft opening of the salon that will allow cosmetology students the opportunity to iron out logistics, gain feedback from customers, and help build anticipation before the grand reopening scheduled for June 9.

During both weeks, patrons will receive a 50% discount on up to two services, according to RCC. This discount will be applied to services received on Wednesday, Thursday, June 9 and June 10. Drawings for door prizes are scheduled for June 9.

The salon was temporarily shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, but now that restrictions have been lifted, cosmetology students are looking forward to things getting back to normal.

"We are just so excited," said Rosita Pingol, RCC cosmetology program director. "The students are so excited to get back to working on real clients, and we are so excited to welcome back our regular clients."

The salon customers saw pre-COVID will not be the same salon they see on opening day, Pingol said.

"Our salon has been completely renovated," she said.

The salon was retrofitted during the shutdown and now features a completely new layout, larger workstations, and European bowls, giving it a more modern and sophisticated look.

"I would like to thank the community for coming back to support us," Pingol said. "In August, our CCP students from the high schools will be coming back, so we're just thrilled to have a new look and feel for our salon, to be welcoming back our customers and our students, and to just be taking steps to getting back to normal."

The salon at RCC offers haircuts, perms, waxing, coloring, manicures, hair treatments, pedicures, and more. For a full list of services and prices, patrons can visit to learn more.
