Salvation Army aids myriad needs

Oct. 10—From the everyday helping hand to making the holidays a little more special, the Salvation Army Pottsville Corps serves everyone with dignity and compassion.

Every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can find fellowship and a warm meal at their location on Sanderson Street in Pottsville. All are welcome. They also have a food pantry and are thrilled to soon offer it as a Choice Food Pantry — meaning people will be able to select the items they need like they would at a grocery store.

The Salvation Army Pottsville Corps can either help directly or find you an organization to help with utility bills, clothing, volunteer opportunities and other day-to-day needs. They have started a youth program, Club 316, focused on helping children develop social and communication skills, decision making and life skills, leadership skills and good character.

They have begun signups for assistance with Thanksgiving meals. To help families with Christmas, they are partnering with Toys for Tots and have begun those signups as well.
