This Sam’s Club’s Pie Just Won an American Pie Council Award

Southerners take apple pie pretty seriously. Too chewy, too crisp, too much filling, too little filling — commit any of these sins and we take note in our ever-growing Mental Pie Rolodex. That's why when we're not baking 'em ourselves, we give serious thought to where we purchase this classic dessert.

How about Sam's Club? Yep, the warehouse store giant is now home to a coveted blue ribbon from the American Pie Council's National Pie Championship. Sam’s Club’s four-and-a-half-pound Member's Mark Apple Lattice Pie secured the honor in the "Super Gourmet" category for commercial pies. Each pie — baked in-club every day — serves 16 people and sells for the surprisingly low price of $8.98. Filled with Granny Smith apples from the Pacific Northwest, along with Fuji and Honeycrisp apples seasonally, the cinnamon-dusted treat may not stack up to your neighbor Betty's, but it's pretty darn good. Sam's Club's Member's Mark Pumpkin Pie was also a winner in the "Super Gourmet" category for commercial bakers.

Next time you're headed to Sam's Club, go ahead and pick up one of these tantalizing desserts, along with Member's Mark Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream, and you're guaranteed to serve a happy crowd.
