Sam Smith Saves Their Most Fabulous Pair of Heels for the Judy Premiere

If you keep up with Sam Smith’s outfits, chances are you’re familiar with their (last week, Smith asked to be referred to with they/them pronouns going forward) standout collection of heels. Just take the black patent Gucci pair that they wore to the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London earlier this month: Smith announced it was the very first time they’d worn high heels to an award ceremony, and it meant much more than just a few extra inches of height to the artist. “There was a time where I thought I’d never ever ever be able to be myself like this in front of the industry or anyone,” Smith explained on Instagram. “It feels so good and I just wanted to share that with you all, and share a picture of my GORJ Gucci heels.”

Smith may have just saved their most dramatic pair of platforms for last, though. Last night, the British singer-songwriter attended the Hollywood red carpet premiere of Judy—the upcoming Judy Garland biopic starring Renée Zellweger—in a pair of chunky, square-heeled white boots, which they paired with a plunging olive green silk button-down and an even darker-hued suit. Smith’s heel game might only just be getting starting—but so far, it’s unstoppable.
