Who should be the Sames Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week?

Some milestones are near for several Corpus Christi-area volleyball players and a few are finalists for the Sames Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week.

The Caller-Times is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close on Thursday and the winners will be announced Friday each week.

Miller's Isabella Estralla became the most recent Buccaneers volleyball player to reach 1,000 career assists in a four-set win against Falfurrias last week.

Moody's MaKenzie Uribe is nearing the 1,000-dig plateau, which would make her the first Trojans player to reach that number, and finished with 24 digs and nine assists in two matches last week.

Gregory-Portland running back Dalvin Batts finished with 181 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries, playing two quarters for the Wildcats in their Battle of the Bridge win against Carroll.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.
