Sam's Southern Eatery adding Mediterranean food to menu

Aug. 28—Due to the increasing demand from customers, Sam's Southern Eatery in Wickliffe will be adding a Mediterranean cuisine to its menu.

According to Sam's, the same food will still be offered in addition to the Mediterranean.

"I received many messages wondering what they were doing," said Wickliffe Mayor Joe Sakacs. "Everything stays as normal, so they will have the same food plus Mediterranean."

Located at 30560 Euclid Ave., the chain restaurant opened in March of this year. From its fish filets to its jumbo shrimp, Sam's has brought a taste of the South to Wickliffe.

"We've been growing," regional manager Michael Kalel previously reported to The News-Herald. "Right now, we're in about 15 states and I believe this is number 91. Our next location is in Oklahoma and then we go into North Carolina.

"In Ohio, this is our third location. We have one in Youngstown and one in Niles. We'd be more than happy to take on new family if they'd like to join us."

Sam Gazawaneh started the business in 2008 in Shreveport, Louisiana, in a former Taco Bell location. Gazawaneh has had a love for the business, serving people and giving them their money's worth for the quality, Kalel said.

"People started approaching him and said, 'I want to open like you,' " Kalel said. "He thought about it — him and his brothers — and they came up with this idea to have a chain and open everywhere."

Sam's is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
