Samsung has been promising phones with folding screens for years – and its Galaxy Fold has finally got a UK release date and price.

Brace yourselves, though, it’s going to retail at £1,799

The Galaxy Fold will be available on Friday 3rd May via Samsung shops and its online store, and only available on EE.

Pre-orders for the device go live from Friday April 26, and customers can register their interest from today.

Last week a leaked video caused consternation among fans, showing a huge crease down the middle of the 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display, which opens and closes like a book.

Previously, when the phone was shown off at Mobile World Congress, it was kept inside a case, so that people couldn’t see whether there was a crease.

Several companies including Samsung have unveiled phones with folding screens this year – including Xiaomi which unveiled a ‘double folding’ device.
