Samuel L. Jackson Wears Avengers Face Mask While Receiving First Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine

Samuel L. Jackson is bringing his superhero friends along with him to get the coronavirus vaccine.
Over the weekend, the Captain Marvel star wore an Avengers-themed face mask while receiving his first dose of the vaccine.
"At The Forum getting that 1st jab!!" Jackson captioned the Instagram shot while at the venue in Inglewood, Calif. The festive face mask included cartoon images of some of the heroes including the Hulk and Captain America. Jackson then added the hashtags, "look out world bout to bust back out," "vaccine spring," and "go gitch yours I got mine," to the photo caption.
The 72-year-old actor qualified for the shot as California Gov. Gavin Newsom moved the state into Phase 1B of vaccine rollout on Jan. 13, allowing people 65 and older access to the vaccine, per the Los Angeles Times.

It is unclear which brand of the injection Jackson received, as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration allowed emergency use authorization for two COVID-19 vaccines, one made by Pfizer and another by Moderna. Both vaccines require a wait of either three or four weeks before the second dose, which brings the vaccine protection up to around 95%.
Jackson joins a growing list of public figures and celebrities that have gotten the immunization. Last week, former Governor of California and The Terminator star, Arnold Schwarzenegger documented himself receiving his first dose.

"Today was a good day. I have never been happier to wait in a line," the actor, 73, wrote on Instagram on Jan. 20. "If you're eligible, join me and sign up to get your vaccine. Come with me if you want to live!"
Father of the Bride star, Steve Martin, also qualified for the injection in New York. "Thank you science," the 75-year-old actor tweeted after being vaccinated in New York City in mid-January. He called the operation "smooth as silk" and thanked the U.S. Army and National Guard for their involvement.
Martha Stewart also got her first injection in N.Y.C. this month. The lifestyle guru posted on Instagram on Jan. 11 — the first day N.Y.C. started vaccinating people age 75 and older — that she'd been vaccinated at the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai Downtown.
"I am so proud of and grateful to the doctors, nurses and medical staff who are wading through the red tape and confusion of the distribution of these very important vaccines," the 79-year-old wrote at the time.
As of Jan. 25, at least 18,502,131 people in the U.S. have received at least one dose of either Pfizer's or Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, according to the CDC. Only 3,216,836 people have gotten both doses.
