San Angelo beat out Prescott, Arizona for the No. 1 spot, followed by Casper, Wyoming at No. 3, Tombstone, Arizona at No. 4, and Durango, Colorado at No. 5.

Bandera was the only other Texas town on the list at No. 9.

The rest of the Top 10 included Deadwood, South Dakota at No. 6, Cheyenne, Wyoming at No. 7, Dodge City, Kansas at No. 8 and Virginia City/Nevada City, Montana at No. 10.

This is the fourth year in a row San Angelo was represented on the list. The city was No. 2 last year and in 2019, and had the top spot in 2020.

“San Angelo being named as the No. 1 True Western Town supports our long history of and great beginnings of a frontier city," said Mayor Brenda Gunter. "We will always support those longstanding traditions that allow us to stand out and support all things western.”
