San Angelo gas price best in Texas, with Abilene close

AAA on Thursday reported the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texas, after rising last week, dropped a penny this week to $3.12.

The national average basically held steady, too, at $3.57.

The pump price in San Angelo dropped a dime to right at $3 at $2.99, the best price seen in the survey.

Abilene wasn't far behind, with the average price down 9 cents to $3.01, one of the best prices in the state. Prices ranged Thursday from $2.84 at a north-side Walmart to $3.47, again at the station across from McMurry University. That's a range of 63 cents, though most prices were in the $2.90s.

Across the state, the price fell a nickel or so in the Dallas-Fort Worth area but jumped 13 cents in Corpus Christi.
