San Angelo man pleads guilty to manslaughter charge

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A San Angelo man recently was committed to the Tom Green County Detention Center after pleading guilty to manslaughter on January 31.

According to records filed in Tom Green County, 22-year-old Mason Fulton pled guilty to the manslaughter of Andy Hinojos after recklessly shooting the individual in the lower back. Fulton will serve eight years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutions Division for the second-degree felony.

SAPD asks for help locating ‘armed’ suspect

The San Angelo Police Department began their investigation on February 21, 2022, after officers were dispatched to the 1700 Blk of N. Magdalen St. for a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers were told the victim, Hinojos, was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle where he was rushed into surgery.

While interviewing Fulton, officers learned from multiple witnesses that Fulton had recklessly shot Hinojos in a bedroom at the residence in the right lower back area.

Records state that officers located the handgun and detained Fulton. Fulton was originally arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
