"Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family, friends, students and school staff most affected by the tragedy. We are not only a school, but a community and collectively feel the loss," an SAISD Facebook post stated.

Anderson, 28, began her battle with stage 4 breast cancer in October 2021 and was recently staying at a hospital in Houston, where she passed away on Jan. 28.

"She is now free of the pain that she was suffering from. We are asking that the donations continue while we are needing help getting the funds for her funeral. Thank you in advance for your prayers and your generous support."

The fundraiser had $7,610 raised of its $20,000 goal as of Tuesday, Feb. 7 and can be found online at https://www.gofundme.com.
