ANGELO STATE

MEN'S BASKETBALL

ANGELO STATE 89, MIDWESTERN STATE 74

The Angelo State men's basketball team continued their winning ways on Thursday night as they claimed an 89-74 over Midwestern State inside the Junell Center.

Six Rams got on the scoresheet, but all six scored in double figures. The win sees the Rams improve to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Angelo State sits alone atop the Lone Star Conference West Division.

The win is also the ninth-consecutive win for the Rams on their home court, dating back to last season.

For the second consecutive game, Kevon Godwin led the Rams with 18 points. Godwin played all 40 minutes for the Rams as he shot 7-of-18 from the field and 4-of-11 from three-point range. Godwin also recorded a career-high five assists.

Fredelin De La Cruz recorded his fourth double-double of the season and his first since December 1st with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

ANGELO STATE 73, CAMERON 56

The Angelo State men's basketball team completed a perfect 4-0 homestand for the second time this season, capping this stretch with a 73-56 victory against Cameron on Saturday afternoon at the Junell Center.

The win is the tenth-straight home win for the Rams, dating back to last season. The Rams improve to 13-3 on the season and 9-1 in conference play; the Rams sit alone atop the Lone Star Conference standings.

Kevon Godwin led the Rams with 22 points, making five three-pointers; he grabbed five rebounds and assisted four times.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

ANGELO STATE 85, MIDWESTERN STATE 65

After dominating the offensive and defensive glass, the Angelo State women's basketball team earned its eighth consecutive victory after defeating Midwestern State 85-65 in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center on Thursday.

The Rambelles improve to 14-2 on the season and are 9-1 in Lone Star Conference play, riding an eight game winning streak. The Mustangs fall to 4-12 on the season and 2-8 in LSC action.

Sawyer Loyd led all scorers with 20 points.

CAMERON 61, ANGELO STATE 57

On an afternoon that saw the Rambelles shoot 11 percent from 3-point range, the Angelo State women's basketball team lost their first contest in nine games to Cameron 61-57 on Saturday at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center. The Rambelles fall to 14-3 on the season and are 9-2 in Lone Star Conference play. The Aggies inch closer to .500, now sitting 8-9 and 5-6 in conference.

Christian Gatlin scored two goals and Izaiah Rios added two assists in a victory on Tuesday. Cameron Mobley was credited with the shutout in goal. The Chiefs are 3-0-1 this season.

ALVARADO TOURNAMENT

The Chiefs won two games at the Alvarado Tournament on Thursday, topping Abilene Wylie 2-1 and Decatur 3-2.

Izaiah Rios and Christian Gatlin scored in the win against Abilene Wylie as Francisco Ramirez tallied both assists. The Chiefs then defeated Decatur as Ricky Ramirez, Gatlin and JV Antu each scored goals, and Jose Enriquez and Gatlin had helpers.

Lake View is 5-0-1 on the season.

GIRLS

SAN ANGELO LAKE VIEW AT BURNET LADY BULLDOG TOURNAMENT

The Lake View girls soccer team advanced to the championship game of the Lady Bulldog Tournament this past week, falling to Burnet 2-0 in the championship.

To reach the championship game, the Maidens defeated Gateway 4-0, lost to the Liberty Hill JV 2-1, defeated Killeen Shoemaker 2-0 and Canyon Randall 3-2 on penalty kicks.

Against Shoemaker, Ally Flores recorded a goal and an assist, and Jazmyne Flores added a goal. Flores, Isabel Cabrera and Janessa Rocha each scored in the penalty kick win against Randall.
