San Angelo is under a winter storm warning, according to the National Weather Service. Check back here for updates from the City, schools, NWS and more.

Pat O'Quinn, NWS meteorologist, said San Angelo was sitting at 25 degrees on Monday around noon.

"We are well below freezing with drizzles leaving slick spots on the roads," he said. "Hazardous weather has already began, the worst is coming with heavier precipitation through Wednesday."

O'Quinn said there will be a mix of freezing rain and sleet with temperatures near the mid 20's "for awhile."

"If we're lucky, we will get temperatures above freezing on Wednesday, but likely Thursday is when we'll be above freezing."

O'Quinn said people should keep an eye out for anything sensitive to cold weather including pipes, plants, pets and people. He also said power outages may be possible during this freeze.

SAISD and Angelo State University

SAISD campuses and offices will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 1 and Thursday, Feb. 2 due to inclement weather, according to an SAISD Facebook post.

"It is important to note that decisions made regarding school delays and/or closures are not based on temperature, but icy road conditions that make travel dangerous. Continue to check our website, Facebook, Twitter, or local media channels for further weather-related updates."

Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, classes at Angelo State University have been cancelled and the university will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 1.
