SAN ANGELO — The "new year, new me" attitude has stretched to one downtown San Angelo pub, turning the Casual Pint into the Martial Pint.
The business, which originally opened in January 2017 at 19 E. Concho Ave., is in a three-phase project to mix the owner's passions, but still promises a good atmosphere.
"My passion is martial arts, so it's a play on words with my last name," said Zac Marshall, owner. "It allows me to cross brand my passions. I'm able to add to the ambiance, whether it's paint coupled with décor, it just furthers my aspirations."
Marshall has been involved in martial arts his entire life and has been practicing Brazilian jujitsu for the past 15 years.
"I wanted to co-mingle the two," he said. "I love conversation, family, friends, beer, food wine. ... I just get to add to that with the martial arts slant."
The formal rebranding, phase one, was finalized on Jan. 6, 2022.
What's new with the Martial Pint?
Along with the name change, people can expect a new look and menu, with some fan-favorites. Phase two includes permits for a kitchen expansion and a climate control patio, with shade, heating and cooling.
"Our menu will be even more robust, and more complicated," Marshall said. "There will also be a whole new ambiance change. We will have an outdoor grill, fireplaces and so forth."
Stage three will likely occur in 2023, according to Marshall.
"We're going to add something big to our lineup ..." Marshall alluded, wanting to hold off on the announcement.
The Martial Pint will still host events, including trivia on Tuesday nights
"We always try to keep events going, always try to keep them kind of quirky," Marshall said.
The Geeks Gaming Lounge has also been rebranded with new games, paint and product lineup.
