This San Diego beach is among the best in the US: Tripadvisor
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — With a wave of beaches to be enjoyed along the Southern California coastline, there’s one local spot that’s considered among the top beaches in the entire country.
Tripadvisor, a popular travel guide platform, just released its Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches for 2024, and there’s one San Diego beach that ranked in the top five nationally.

To determine which spots are among the best, researchers at Tripadvisor examined the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings on the platform for beaches over the 12-month period from Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023.
Ranking No. 5 on the U.S. list is La Jolla Cove. According to Tripadvisor, the area is good for sea lion spotting and cliff walks. With over 13,700 reviews as of February 2024, La Jolla Cove was also listed as No. 1 a far as “things to do” in the seaside community.
While describing La Jolla Cove, Tripadviser noted, “At this beach surrounded by sandstone cliffs on the San Diego coast, the water is calm enough for travelers to enjoy diving and snorkeling. Walk along the rocky shore to spot large colonies of sea lions lounging in their natural habitat and looking after their pups, and have a picnic while soaking up the views of the ocean from the cliffs at sunset.”

Tripadviser also noted that Sunny Jim’s Sea Cave is nearby, a popular tourist attraction that offers walking tours of a tunnel running from a shop to a sea cave that was dug in 1902. It was said to be used for bootlegging.
One other Southern California beach made the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best for 2024. Santa Monica State Beach in Los Angeles County was ranked No. 7.
