San Diego County Library recommends these books, movies for spooky season

SAN DIEGO — Halloween is almost here, which makes it the perfect time to cozy up with a spooky book or scary movie.

Although there’s no Blockbusters around, the San Diego County Library still offers DVD rentals as if we were still in the early 2000s. For those looking for a scary flick with a side of nostalgia, the library recommends these movies for the season:

  1. Scream VI

  2. Beau is Afraid

  3. The Menu

  4. Knock at the Cabin

  5. Evil Dead Rise

While you may enjoy a thriller, the library also has some kid-friendly movie recommendations for the younger ones in the household. Here’s a look their top five:

  1. The Secret of NIMH

  2. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

  3. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

  4. Scooby-Doo! Return to Zombie Island

  5. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
