San Diego Police Arrest Man Outside Comic-Con After Scuffle With Officers

A man was taken into custody by police outside of Comic-Con on Thursday after he allegedly tried to run away when confronted by officers.

A rep for the San Diego Police Department tells The Blast, the man was outside an area where Comic-Con events were happening and he was carrying a box containing baseball gloves. The officers tried to speak with him but he was unable to answer even basic questions.

Police say all of the clothes he was wearing still had the security tags attached.

As they were speaking with the man, police say the 33-year-old man attempted to run off, pushing officers out of the way.

As officers attempted to grab him, he was taken to the ground and hit his head. Police say he continued to fight off the officers and injured himself further.

Police restrained the man and medical assistance was called to the scene to treat his injury and transport him to the hospital.

After he was treated, the man was booked into jail.

A witness to the incident told the O.C. Register, "The cops did what they had to do to keep us safe. He was charging towards us."
