San Diego's Barrientes voted Sames Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week
San Diego's Stevie Barrientes, who helped propel the Vaqueros basketball team to a playoff upset of Santa Rosa, has been voted the Sames Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week.
Barrientes dropped 29 points for San Diego in a Class 3A area round playoff win to upend the Warriors.
Barrientes received 17,555 of the 36,001 votes cast, which was 48.8% of all votes.
Beeville boys tennis player Noah Salas was second with 10,344 votes.
Students can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport.
Nominations are due each Monday by 5 p.m. and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.
