SF homicide victim identified as 27-year-old tech worker

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A woman who was found dead in a Presidio Heights apartment last week has been identified as Kimberly Wong, a 27-year-old San Francisco tech worker. Wong was found dead during a well-being check at an apartment on the 3200 block of Clay Street.

Her identity was confirmed by the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Wong was an employee at Plaid, where she worked as a product designer, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The financial services company provided a statement on her passing, saying:

“We are devastated at the news of Kim’s passing. She was smart, talented, positive, and a valued member of our team who made an impact on everyone who worked with her. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to her family and her friends.”

Prior to Plaid, Wong worked for several years at Splunk, where she started as an intern and became a user experience designer. A company spokesperson at Splunk provided the following statement to KRON 4:

“We are deeply saddened to hear of Kimberly Wong’s passing and we extend our heartfelt condolences and support to Kimberly’s loved ones during this difficult time. Kimberly was a hardworking, dedicated employee and will be missed.”

The San Francisco Police Department is investigating Wong’s death as a homicide. The incident is suspected to be a case of domestic violence, according to a tweet from San Francisco Supervisor Catherine Stefani, who represents the district where the victim was found.

“My heart goes out to the victim’s family and friends,” Stefani said on X, formerly Twitter.
