San Joaquin County pilot program aims to help preschoolers start savings accounts

A child savings account program in San Joaquin County may help thousands of preschoolers launched Monday. City and county leaders attended the launch in support. The group, San Joaquin A+, said at the launching event at the University of the Pacific that it aims to help more than 2,000 preschoolers and their families . Leonardo Martinez is a 4-year-old who is now a part of the program. KCRA 3 spoke with him and his mother as a community leader put coins in a piggy bank he held, given to him by San Joaquin A+. We asked the child what he would like to be when he grows up.
