San Jose Raging Waters may reopen this summer under new operators

(KRON) — If you grew up in the South Bay, one of your childhood memories is likely splashing down a waterslide at Raging Waters. Children and their parents have been flocking to the popular water theme park in East San Jose since 1985.

Raging Waters closed indefinitely after its 2023 summer season when the company that operates the park terminated its lease with the city. “Thanks for the memories, San Jose! Raging Waters San Jose is closed for the season and will not be reopening in 2024,” Palace Entertainment wrote on its website.

Since the sudden closure, city officials have been talking to multiple companies that are interested in securing the lease and reopening the waterslide park.

On Thursday, San Jose City Council members Domingo Candelas and Peter Ortiz announced that the 23-acre aquatic attraction could reopen to visitors under new owners as early as this summer.

The city selected California Dreamin’ Entertainment Inc. as the park’s new operators. “After interviewing multiple companies, the City has selected California Dreamin’ Entertainment, Inc. as a suitable organization that meets the project’s requirements,” the councilmembers wrote.

The City Council is expected to vote on approving the agreement at an upcoming meeting.

“This proposal would help rejuvenate an East San Jose destination ensuring that residents have access to high-quality, safe, and affordable experiences locally, while advancing lease revenue and capital investment in San Jose,” the councilmembers wrote.

The waterslide park is located at 2333 South White Road.
