San Mateo County Halts Jury Trials Due To Coronavirus: Report

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County has ordered the suspension of jury trails after a court employee tested positive for COVID-19, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Presiding Superior Court Judge Jonathan Karesh ordered the suspension of ongoing jury trials until Aug. 17, citing a surge in coronavirus case counts over the previous two weeks and a jury’s exposure to someone who tested positive for the coronavirus, the report said.

New jury trials won’t start until Sept. 1 under a separate order Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye handed down.
