San Mateo County Reports 123 New Coronavirus Cases, No Deaths

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Health reported 123 additional coronavirus cases Tuesday.

The latest report brings the countywide COVID-19 case count to 4,674.

The county reported no additional coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, leaving its death toll at 114.

There were 74 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in San Mateo County as of Tuesday, of which 17 were being treated in intensive care units.

Elsewhere in the Bay Area and beyond, the Marin County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt an ordinance that allows county enforcement officers to cite individuals who are not complying with COVID-19 safety measurements. Specifically, citations ranging from $25 to $500 can be given to individuals who are not wearing masks, according to Assistant County Counsel Renee Brewer.

San Jose non-profit Parents Helping Parents hosted Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools Mary Ann Dewan on Monday to discuss back-to-school plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic and resources available for parents. Since Santa Clara County is on the state's watch list, all schools -- private, charter and public -- are required to start the academic year with a distance learning model to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.

There were 400,190 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 7,779 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Tuesday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States had 3,884,988 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 141,817 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Tuesday afternoon.

There have been 14,821,906 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 613,710 deaths reported globally as of Tuesday afternoon.
