Sanderson Farms championship 2022: Everything to know, from returning champions and best pairings

The 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship returns to Country Club of Jackson on Thursday.

Former LSU star Sam Burns will look to defend his title at Mississippi's lone PGA Tour event after helping the U.S. win the Presidents' Cup last week. Burns will also be joined by a few fellow Presidents' Cup opponents as well as several former Sanderson Farms champions.

Here's everything to know ahead of the tournament, including information on how to watch the championship, best pairings and tournament favorites.

Pairings to watch

Sam Burns, Chad Ramey, Christiaan Bezuidenhout

Tee time: 12:28 p.m., No. 1

Defending champion Sam Burns is coming off a scorching hot 2022 season that saw him reach the Tour Championship, vault to No. 12 in the world and earn an invitation to the Presidents' Cup. As the betting favorite, he'll be paired with Chad Ramey, who broke through with his first Tour win in March, and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, a steady South African who has never won on Tour but finished 51st in FedEx Cup points last season.

Peter Malnati, Davis Riley, Justin Lower

Tee time: 12:50 p.m., No. 1

Peter Malnati won at Country Club of Jackson in 2016 in what still is his lone PGA Tour victory. As strong putter, the course fits Malnati's playing style. He'll be paired with Davis Riley, a Hattiesburg native who is ranked No. 69 in the world. Justin Lower is coming off a T-4 finish in the season-opening Fortinet Championship earlier this month.

J.T. Poston, Sepp Straka, Joel Dahmen

Tee time: 7:33 a.m., No. 10

J.T. Poston is among the betting favorites after finishing T-15 at the Tour Championship. Sepp Straka was even better, finishing T-7, and Joel Dahmen is no slouch himself after breaking through to win his first Tour event in March.

Seamus Power, Harris English, Gary Woodland

Tee time: 7:44 a.m., No. 10

Seamus Power is one of the most consistent players in the field and ranks NO. 41 in the world. Harris English is a four-time Tour winner who ranks No. 44. And Gary Woodland also is a four-time winner, including the 2019 U.S. Open.

Keegan Bradley, Kevin Streelman, Scott Stallings

Tee time: 7:55 a.m., No. 10

Keegan Bradley's best season of his career came in 2011, when he won the PGA Championship, but he's still one of the top 50 players in the world. Scott Stallings, who won this event in 2012 when it was played at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, qualified for the Tour Championship last season. Kevin Streelman is a two-time winner on Tour.
