Sandpiper Shores Elementary math teacher arrested on child porn charges

A man who taught math to fourth-graders at a West Boca elementary school was arrested Thursday on dozens of child pornography charges.

Aleck Ford, 36, a math teacher at Sandpiper Shores Elementary School, faces more than 30 charges of possessing 10 or more files of child pornography, and tampering with evidence, court records show.

An arrest report for Ford indicates he should be held without bond. He remained in custody Friday after Circuit Judge Ted Booras set his bail at $630,000.

The judge also banned Ford from having any contact with minors, schools or daycare centers. Sandpiper Shores Principal Stephanie Coletto notified parents and staff that Ford would no longer be working on campus in a voice message on Thursday, but did not describe Ford’s charges in the message.
