Sandra Bullock Lists Tybee Island Beach House for $6.5 Million

With her primary residences in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Austin, Texas, Sandra Bullock is a rare celebrity who prefers the slower pace of life down south. Vacation time is no exception for the actress, who purchased an oceanfront home on Tybee Island, Georgia for $1.5 million in 2001. Now, the fully furnished, 3360 square foot, seven bedroom, five and a half bathroom retreat is on the market for $6.5 million.

Set on nearly three acres on the secluded northern end of the island, the home features all of the amenities necessary for a fun-filled vacation — including a basketball court, home gym, gorgeous pool, outdoor shower, multiple screened-in porches, and private beach access. In the main house, the bright, open-concept ground floor features a living room with high, exposed wood ceilings and a fireplace, a large dining room, and a gourmet kitchen. Also on the main floor is a master suite which has an attached sitting room with a freestanding clawfoot tub. Upstairs, three bedrooms share a bathroom, a den, and a screened-in porch. Separate from the main house is a 2848 square foot guest house featuring a game room, a grill, and a crow’s nest offering expansive ocean views. When Bullock put the property up for rent in 2018, the listing noted that the abode was perfect for watching dolphins.

Though the home sounds like the perfect place to disconnect for days on end, there’s plenty to do in the area, with historic downtown Savannah, Georgia only a 20 minute drive away. And though Tybee Island is a sleepy beach town, the destination has been known to attract celebrity vacationers in the past. Forbes reports that John Mellencamp owns a house on the island, and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth famously met while filming the movie version of Nicholas Sparks’ The Last Song here in 2010. In 2017, they were photographed riding jet skis together while vacationing on Tybee again.

Bullock recently sold another property, a $2.925 million ranch near the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, in September 2018, but her real estate portfolio is still quite healthy. In addition to her homes in Austin and New Orleans, she owns two condos near the Sunset Strip in the Sierra Towers building, a Beverly Hills mansion, a ski home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and an apartment in New York City.
