Sandusky County voters face few contested races in village, school board elections Nov. 7

Audits of the Nov. 7 General Election vote results showed 100% accuracy in Sandusky and Ottawa counties.

FREMONT - The Sandusky County Board of Elections has released its list of races for area towns and school boards, many of which are uncontested for the Nov. 7 General Election.

In Clyde, there are two write-in candidates seeking two open council seats. Two incumbents did not seek reelection in 2023. The write-in candidates are Greg McMaster, 780 W. McPherson Highway, and Terri L. Meek, 214 S. Woodland Ave.

In the villages, Green Springs has a race for mayor: Steve Bower, 411 S. Broadway St., faces Derek Knieriemen, 304 W. Adams St.

Daniel W. Shafer, 295 Walnut Drive, is the only candidate for two open council seats.

Helena, Lindsey also have mayors races to decide

Two candidates are seeking the mayor's post in Helena. Brian W. Barnett, 246 Main St., is facing Connie Carnicom, 501 Bower St.

There also is a race in Helena for clerk/treasurer as David W. Murray, 251 Main St., faces Jenell Sowell, 523 Church St. Only one person is running for one of two open council. Roberta Murray, 251 Main St., is seeking one seat and no petition was filed for the other.

In Lindsey, the race for mayor is between between Lewis Branson, 3151/2 Garfield St., and Ann Randolph Mussel, 424 Cemetery Drive. Two people filed for the two available council seats — Leroy C. Slane, 2490 Seiheimer Road, and Sam L. Weigman, 307 Garfield St.

In Burgoon, Hope Thrasher, 3280 Main St., is the only candidate for mayor. Two people are running unopposed for the two open council seats: Elizabeth Green, 3168 Main St., and Sandra White, 3399 George St.

There also are no races in Gibsonburg for mayor or council. Stevent L. Fought, 550 W. Yeastling St. is unopposed in the mayor's race and Jeffrey E. Herman, 220 E. Madison St. is the only one running for one of two available council seats.

In Woodville, again candidates for the mayor's seat and two council spots are unopposed. Ty Tracy, 119½ W. Main St. has filed for mayor, and for the council seats — Patrick W. Dun, 613 Water St., and Tammi Lynn Thropp, 304 Water St., are unchallenged.

Most school boards have no races to decide on Nov. 7

As for the school districts in Sandusky County, there are no races for board of education seats except for Fremont City Schools (see separate articles).

Bellevue City Schools have three openings on the board and the candidates are Stephanie Brown, Shannon M. Smith, and write-in candidate Stephen A. Rucker.

There are two seats up for election in the Clyde-Green Springs Exempted Village School District with Matthew L. Jenne, Green Springs, and Aaron J. Wilson, Clyde, running unopposed.

For the Gibsonburg School Board with two available seats, Timothy N. Damschroder has filed for a seat and David Johnson, filed as a write-in candidate.

Lakota Local Schools also has two seats available on the board. Running are Chris P. Chalfiin, Risingsun, and Barbara J. Lehman, Kansas.

For the Woodmore school board, there are three seats available and only two candidates, Traci Hernandez, Woodville, and Christopher Burke, Elmore, filed as a write-in.

For Old Fort school board, two seats are open, with Evan Baker, Kansas, filing and Jay Pence, Tiffin, running as a write-in candidate.

For Margaretta, two seats are open on the board and two men have filed. Brian D. Sutorius, Vickery, and Elmer Lippert (no address available) running.

There are three seats open on the North Point ESC, Governing Board. Candidates are Marianne Cheetam, Daryl L. Deering and Mark Miller (no addresses available). Philip D. Thiede is the only person running for an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2025.

North Central Ohio Education Service Center District 1 has a race for one seat. Both are write-in candidates — Donald R. Ellis and J. Dian West, no addresses provided.
