Sangamon County COVID-19 vaccine tracker: 60% of people fully vaccinated

Sangamon County has administered more than 283,548 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Dec. 20, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

That's up 2.19% from the previous week's tally of 277,472 COVID-19 doses administered.

In Sangamon County, 60% of residents are fully vaccinated as of Dec. 20. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

Illinois reported 1,975,515 total cases of coronavirus, an increase of 4% from the week before.

The five areas with the highest percentage of their population fully vaccinated in Illinois as of Dec. 20 are DuPage County (70%), Cook County (66%), Lake County (64%), Kendall County (63%) and Chicago (62%).
