Santa Fe River Commission seeks 5 applicants

Jan. 5—The Santa Fe River Commission is seeking applicants for five new members.

The volunteer commission is responsible for advising the city on the management of the Santa Fe River, its riparian corridor and the river's watershed, the city said in a news release issued Thursday. Topics include the Living River target flow, management of vegetation and effluent, the Santa Fe River Fund and public art along the river.

There are several subcommittees, including one regarding Two Mile Pond.

Applicants must either live or work in the city or Santa Fe County, the release said. Those with interest or professional expertise in "hydrology, environmental science, community engagement, acequias, the history of Santa Fe, or related fields" are encouraged to apply.

Meetings take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second Thursday of alternate months, and members are expected to dedicate several hours a month to their work.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Feb. 2. Applications can be submitted through the city's PrimeGov committee portal at santafe.primegov.com/public/committees.
