Santo Domingo Streets Flooded by Tropical Storm Laura

Streets in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, remained flooded on August 24 after Tropical Storm Laura swept through the Caribbean the previous day.

At least four people were reportedly killed in the Dominican Republic on August 23, and several more died in neighboring Haiti as a result of the storm.

Local news reports said several buildings collapsed in La Yuca, a neighborhood in the Los Rios area of Santo Domingo, the nation’s capital.

On Sunday, the National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Laura was nearing Cuba and warned the storm could bring “life-threatening flash flooding” to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, and Jamaica. Credit: @desarrollandome_sos via Storyful
