SAPD takes wanted individual into custody near ASU

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A wanted and dangerous individual was taken into custody near Angelo State University in the early morning hours of February 7.

Hector Lopez was taken into custody and charged with aggravated kidnapping causing bodily injury, stalking with a previous conviction and the motion to revoke for possession of child pornography.

According to the local police department, SAPD SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to make contact with Lopez at a residence near Vanderventer Avenue and South Van Buren Street after confirming his location. Following several unsuccessful attempts, the SAPD SWAT team made entry into the residence and took Lopez into custody.

No officers or civilians were injured.

SAPD shared they were assisted by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, the Angelo State University Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. SAPD’s drone team, K9 division, criminal investigations division and patrol division were also on scene.

Lopez remains incarcerated at the Tom Green County Detention Center and does not have a bail set at this time.
